KJ in the Orchard
Hello all, I’m excited to be writing you for the first time in 2026. I hope your year has begun with as much ease and softness as possible. I hate to admit it, but 2026 is absolutely kicking my butt so far. Our family has been battling sickness for most of the month, really taking the wind out of my sails.
End-of-year Photo Roundup
As you well know, winter is officially here in the Northern Hemisphere. At this very moment, I am listening to the sound of rain and wind beating against my window. The candles are dipped (and lit), and my “to read” stack is piled high.
Sam & Kale at Home
Yesterday morning I woke up to the first frost of the season lining all the roofs in the neighborhood and adorning the lawn. It felt very fitting and well-timed! I only just finished overwintering my dahlias last week (first-year dahlia grower here). I love a gentle frost, as it is often accompanied by clear skies and strong sun that makes all the tiny ice crystals sparkle.

I am very happy to be sitting down to write to you all. October is always more chaotic than I expect. I tell myself things will be chiller because Fall has started, but with my kiddo’s birthday on the 26th, late summer weddings to finish editing, and pumpkin patches to visit, the time just flies by.
Bridget & Lucas’ Backyard Wedding
If it’s your first time here, welcome! I really appreciate you joining me. It has been a busy summer and I have a lot of work to catch up on sharing with you. But I figured I would start this email with a little introduction/re-introduction for anyone who is interested.
Dayle in the Forest
It is August! In some ways, it feels like time has gone by quickly this summer, but in other ways it honestly hasn’t. I have packed more fun into this season than I have in the 5 years since the pandemic started—largely outdoor concerts, pool parties, and romping in nature with Rigby and his friends.
Mya & Joyce At Volunteer Park
Happy Pride! I hope your month has been filled with sweetness amidst whatever you may be navigating. Currently I am sitting in my backyard on a warm day in Seattle, a perfect breeze in the air and the chickens grazing nearby.

Happy New Moon to you. I hope the spring is treating you all well so far. Here in Seattle we are enjoying waves of warm and sunny, then cool and wet, and just generally unpredictable weather. It feels very correct for springtime and it reassures me that some things are still right with the earth, at least some of the time.
Rachel in the Snowdrops
Wishing you a very happy Friday and a sweet arrival of Spring. My note is very brief today as I just wanted to pop in to your inboxes to share some new photos and see how you all are feeling as the seasons shift.
Isabelle & Eden at the Greenhouse
Wishing you a sense of ease on this Monday morning. From my window where I sit tapping on my keyboard, I can see birds foraging in my dormant garden. I am so delighted to see their return as the days start to warm and green daffodil shoots make themselves known in the side yard.
Emmy in Her Port Townsend Studio
I hope the month has started off gently for you. I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about how I can wind down this year and really put it to rest, rather than just rushing forward and suddenly finding myself in 2025, with the same sense of urgency that I have been wrestling with for much of this past year.
Fabled Flora Flower Farm
It is with a heavy heart that I write you today. I am still processing my grief around last week’s national election results and I’m sure I will be for quite a while. If you hold any sort of marginalized identity and live in the US, I imagine you are feeling this on some level.
Julia & Twins in Seward Park
I hope your week has been flowing with ease. I am stoked to say the Polaroid Pop-up at the beginning of the month was an amazing success, thanks in part to several of you! I am so grateful to all the folks who came out to raise money for Palestine and get a Polaroid taken.
Ruby at Dash Point
It is a foggy day in Seattle and as I biked Rigby to preschool this morning I admired the already-changing leaves of fall. Every single year it feels so good to arrive in this season. I experience a real satisfaction after the rush of action that summer requires as the busy season for my business...
Phoebe in Studio
I am very happy to be dropping into your inboxes today. Despite my vow to have a slow summer, I have once again crammed my schedule full with all the things I need to do and want to do. This season is just such an enticing time for saying yes, yes, yes...
Rachel in Roses
After enjoying a little surprise rain earlier this week, we are now back to warm and sunny days here in Seattle. I am drinking it up! I received several shoots’ worth of film scans back in the last few days so I have plenty of editing to do and I am stoked to settle into it...
Lauren & Willow
I hope the first half of July has treated you well. I am currently sitting in apark near Rigby’s preschool soaking in the sights and smells of summer. For the first time in as long as I can remember, I am actually enjoying the hot sunny days...
Hannah in the River
I have really missed writing you and I am so glad to be back. Over the last month I have been busy putting the final touches on my new website, and that unfortunately didn’t leave any time for newsletter writing...
Julia & Twins at Home
I hope the end of April has found you well. The weather in Seattle has been the very picture of Spring, with gray mornings melting into sunny afternoons giving way to blustery evenings. I truly delight in these transitional seasons...
Natalie in the Snowdrops
I don't have a personal essay to share today, but I didn't want another week to pass without sending out some photos that felt very befitting for this season. These were from a lovely morning spent in the Carkeek woods and snowdrop glen.
