Sam & Kale at Home

Hello all, happy December!

Yesterday morning I woke up to the first frost of the season lining all the roofs in the neighborhood and adorning the lawn. It felt very fitting and well-timed! I only just finished overwintering my dahlias last week (first-year dahlia grower here). I love a gentle frost, as it is often accompanied by clear skies and strong sun that makes all the tiny ice crystals sparkle. And I love a new month, too!—as I’m sure I’ve said here many times.

Before we get to the pictures, I have a little news: I am amazed to share that I was hired by Bloomberg Businessweek to do a photo assignment for one of their articles, which is set to be published this coming week. I am truly FLOORED this opportunity came my way, and I cannot wait to see my photographs (shot on FILM, no less!) in a major publication read by people all around the world.

So keep an eye out for that if you read Businessweek. 😜 And for everyone else, I will be sure to share the link and some screenshots in a future newsletter!

Alright, I’d say it’s about time for photos! This set is one that I shot with my amazing clients Sam & Kale whose Bellingham wedding I photographed last year. I captured them on a beautiful late-summer day lounging in their home; and we also incorporated some shots of Sam sewing in her studio which I absolutely love. I never tire of photographing people in the midst of their creative process!

Ahhh these two are just pure magic! I’ve had the priviledge of shooting a lot more queer pregnancy sessions this year and it such fulfilling work. Thank you thank you to everyone who trusts me with capturing such potent and transformational times in their lives.

As always, thank you for being here! I will be back in your inboxes in a couple of weeks.

Until then,
Holly
